Discord: DMs and your team’s channel
Get DMs when something needs you, and post decisions, questions and meetings to your team’s Discord channel.
On the Team plan, StorySpine talks to Discord in two ways. Both have buttons, so you can reply, agree, object or vote without opening StorySpine. Set them up in Workspace settings → Discord.
Your DMs
Sign in to StorySpine with Discord and you’ll get a DM when someone tags you or replies to your note, when a decision you voted on is decided or reopened, when a new decision is asked, and when a meeting starts. Switch each kind on or off for each workspace, or press Mute on a DM. You never get a DM about something you did yourself.
Team channel
An admin connects one Discord channel for the whole workspace:
- Add the bot and pick your Discord server. It asks to view channels, send messages, embed links and read message history.
- Pick the channel it posts in. Only text channels the bot can post in are listed.
- Choose what gets posted, then Send a test post.
It can post decisions made or reopened, new questions (with a menu to vote), meetings starting (with the agenda) and ending (with a summary), lines filed to What we’ve agreed, and, if you switch them on, new cards and puzzles and a daily digest.
Pick a private channel. Everyone who can see the channel sees the titles, questions and notes StorySpine posts there.
Buttons in the channel
Anyone can press a button, but it only works for people who signed in to StorySpine with Discord and are on that team, with the role the action needs (commenter to vote, agree, object or add a note). Everyone else gets a private message saying so. Answers are shown only to the person who pressed; the post itself just updates its counts, never names.
If posts stop
If the channel is deleted or the bot loses access, StorySpine stops posting and settings shows the channel as broken. Pick another channel, or give the bot access again in Discord and send a test post. Disconnect stops posting; DMs keep working.
